What do we do?

    1. Heighten awareness in the community about children’s issues, so that all children grow up healthy and can succeed in school.

    2. Build the capacity of parents to work in the community.

How?

Danbury Children First has three Committees that include parents and community partners working for the benefit of young children.

    The three Committees are:
    1.
    Parents as Partners in Education
    2. Early Childhood Care and Education
    3. Multi-Cultural Awareness and Understanding

Parent leadership is promoted and strengthened in the community through the following programs.

Parent Leadership Training Institute program, a 20-week course, is offered once a year. It enables parents to become leading advocates for their children in the community. For a PLTI Brochure, click here.

People Empowering People
(PEP) is offered in Spanish and Portuguese at community sites throughout the year.  The program provides opportunities and resources to help parents gain experiences and skills while they take greater control of their lives. For a PEP Brochure, click here.

Provide consultation to organizations that want to increase parent’s role in decision-making.
